Todd Yukumoto

President

Amassing critical acclaim, TODD YUKUMOTO has established himself as one of the preeminent and influential voices on the saxophone. Described as “a first-rate saxophone artist who possesses a rich, clear, and vibrant sound,” (Saxophone Journal) he demonstrates “some of the best classical saxophone playing heard anywhere.” (Fanfare Magazine).

Yukumoto keeps a vibrant and varied performance schedule, demonstrating his versatility across genres. For nearly 30 years, he has been a distinguished member of the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra, the Honolulu Symphony, and Chamber Music Hawaii. His solo work includes performances with diverse ensembles such as The Royal Hawaiian Band, the Anchorage Civic Orchestra, the Amarillo Community Concert Band, and the Harvey Pittel Saxophone Quartet. Recently, he premiered the Kapustin saxophone concerto with the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his classical achievements, Yukumoto remains active in the commercial music scene, recording and touring with many of Hawaii’s top groups, including Kalapana, Kapena, Mana‘o Company, and Fiji.

In addition to his busy performance schedule, Yukumoto has served as a lecturer of saxophone at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa since 1995. His dedication to music education is evident in his founding of the University of Hawai‘i Saxophone Choir and the Hawai‘i Saxophone Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes saxophone education and awareness through workshops, master classes, and performance groups.

Yukumoto is a full-time saxophonist and staff arranger for the Royal Hawaiian Band, serves as the director of the UH Saxophone Choir, and is a cofounder of Trio Solaire. He is also a Conn-Selmer Artist.
