Super Saxophone Series Returns with Brandon Fields and the Hawaii Saxophone Foundation

by: John Veneri

The Hawaii Saxophone Foundation (HSF) is set to light up the local jazz scene with the latest installment of its Super Saxophone Series, featuring legendary saxophonist Brandon Fields. Known for performing with music icons like Luther Vandross, Al Jarreau, Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, and the Rippingtons, Fields will be headlining a concert on Saturday, June 14, 2025, with doors opening at 5 p.m.

This exciting event reflects HSF’s mission to inspire and expand jazz music education for Hawaii’s youth. Fields, who has a long-standing connection to Hawaii through past performances, expressed his motivation for returning: “Playing in Hawaii with top liner acts like the Rippingtons made me want to return to share and inspire students who wish to pursue the music profession.”

In addition to Saturday’s performance, Fields will lead a special master clinic on Thursday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the UH Music Department Bandroom. The clinic promises a one-of-a-kind opportunity for aspiring musicians to gain insight into professional techniques from one of the best in the business.

Todd Yukumoto, President of the Hawaii Saxophone Foundation, joined John Veneri on Living808 to spotlight the event. He and Fields aim to bring both entertainment and education to the forefront of this musical celebration.
