2018 Hawaii High School Saxophone Ensemble Auditions

The Hawaii Saxophone Foundation will hold auditions for its inaugural Hawaii High School Saxophone Ensemble for 2018. High school saxophonists comprise one of the largest populations in Hawaii’s music programs. However, there has never been a specialized association dedicated to enrich the musical experience of these students.

The Hawaii High School Saxophone Ensemble will give students the opportunity to work with Hawaii’s top saxophone music educators and professionals. Students will rehearse weekly in preparation for a concert with the University of Hawaii Saxophone Choir.

Important Audition information

Date: December 16, 2017
Time: 10 am – 12 pm (registration begins at 9:30 am)
Location: Pearl City High School band room

Auditions are open to all high school saxophonists with a minimum of 2 years experience.

There is a $10 dollar non-refundable audition fee. There will be a tuition fee for members is $75 dollars for students who are accepted. The audition fee will be applied to the cost of tuition should you be accepted.

Students must provide instruments for participation (privately owned or from schools). Students may be asked to double on other saxophones.

Rehearsal schedule:

All rehearsals are on Sundays at the Pearl City High School band room and go from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Participants are required to attend weekly rehearsals in preparation for concert activities. Attendance is mandatory. Absences will be excused only for illness or family emergency. Missing 2 or more rehearsals will be grounds for expulsion.
