David Sanborn Masterclass Highlights

On November 2, 2017 the Hawaii Saxophone Foundation sponsored a free masterclass with saxophonist David Sanborn at the Blue Note Hawaii for a small and intimate group of saxophonists. By request, the audience was limited and was comprised of saxophonists of various levels from high school, college, professional and semi-retired music educators.

Mr. Sanborn discussed his musical influences and stories of his career. He spoke about his concept of sound and approach to playing the saxophone. Mr. Sanborn also opened the session to answer questions from every individual in attendance. He was open and candid and gave his sincere and  honest answer with everyone.
